Recently, I have been experiencing more acid reflux than usual, more frequent episodes of sleeplessness. My headaches are more numerous and more intense. And psychologically, I am a mess. I have felt compelled to attend rallies organized by fringe “lunatics” and “far right radicals.” I have become obsessed with C-SPAN. I watch it regularly because Obama promised transparency, and of course, I believe Him.

Some have called such blind faith in a mere man as delusional, but of course I do not believe them. Instead, I watch and listen and read in search of the transparency that continues to elude me. Unfortunately, so far, instead of transparency, I have discovered obfuscating Senators and Congressmen. But I am still sane enough to know that the failing is mine and surely be a result of my deteriorating state. After all, everyone knows that all Senators and Congressmen are filled with knowledge and understanding; they are my superiors whose votes serve a higher purpose than to represent the wishes of the people they represent.

See, I do have moments of rationality. And I have hope, as Obama promised. In fact, His repeated promises of hope and change have conditioned me to believe that the cure for all my ills is just around the corner. Once He signs into law His health care reform bill, wellness will be restored not only for me, but for all the land. And we will live happily ever after.
